Privacy Policy

ResumeElite (“we”, “us”) operates https://resume-elite.com. This policy explains what data the site handles, what it deliberately does not handle, and the choices available to you.

The short version: your resume content never reaches us. It is written and stored entirely inside your own browser. The only data that leaves your device is the ordinary web traffic every site receives, plus advertising and analytics cookies you have consented to.

1. Your resume data stays in your browser

Unlike conventional online resume builders, ResumeElite has no user accounts and no resume database. We do not transmit, collect, or store the personal information or text you enter into your resume.

Everything you type into the builder — your name, contact details, employment history, education, photo — is saved locally in your browser using the HTML5 Local Storage API, under the key rf_state. It stays on your device. It is not sent to a server, not backed up by us, and not visible to us.

Practical consequences worth understanding:

• Only you can recover it. If you clear your browser storage, use a different browser, or switch devices, your draft will not be there. There is no “forgot password” because there is no account.
• Anyone with access to your device profile can see it. On a shared or public computer, clear the data when you finish.
• To erase it, click the delete (bin) button in the editor toolbar, or clear site data for resume-elite.com in your browser settings. Both remove it immediately and permanently.

PDF generation also happens entirely in your browser. Your resume is never uploaded in order to be exported.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

We group what the site uses into three categories.

Strictly necessary

Local Storage entries that make the product work: your resume draft (rf_state) and your cookie choice (re_consent_v1). These are not used for tracking, are never shared, and cannot be switched off without breaking the builder.

Advertising

If you consent, Google AdSense sets cookies to select and measure ads. This is what keeps the site free to use with no paywall on download.

Analytics

If you consent, we may use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to count pageviews and see which guides are read. We do not use it to build profiles of individuals.

3. Your consent choice, and how to change it

Advertising and analytics cookies are set to denied by default before anything loads. No advertising or analytics script runs until you choose to allow it.

You can change your mind at any time:

• Select Cookie settings in the footer of any page.
• Or clear site data for resume-elite.com, which resets the choice entirely.

Your choice is remembered for up to 13 months, after which we ask again.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, consent for advertising is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform, and your choices there are passed to Google and its advertising partners.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. In connection with that:

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly at aboutads.info or Your Online Choices (Europe).
• Google’s own practices are described in its advertising and privacy notice.

Third-party ad servers use technology in the ads that appear here which is sent directly to your browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. We have no access to or control over cookies set by third-party advertisers, and this policy does not cover their practices.

We never send your resume content to an advertising partner. Ads are contextual to the page and to Google’s own signals, not to anything you have typed into the builder.

5. Server logs

The site is served as static files by our hosting provider, which keeps standard access logs: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and date and time. This is ordinary web-server behaviour, used for security and to diagnose faults. We do not combine these logs with any other data to identify you.

6. Data we never ask for

To be explicit, because it is unusual: we do not operate user accounts, we do not ask for an email address to use the builder, we do not require payment details, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell, rent or trade personal data. If you email us through the contact page, we hold that message only in order to reply to it.

7. Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the rights below. Because your resume is stored on your own device, most of them are things you can exercise directly and instantly:

• Access — your data is visible in the editor at all times.
• Rectification — edit any field in the builder.
• Erasure — the delete button in the editor, or clearing site data, removes it permanently.
• Portability — export your resume as a PDF at any time, free.
• Withdraw consent — Cookie settings in the footer of any page.
• Object and restrict — contact us and we will act on the request.
• Complain — you may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Our lawful basis for advertising and analytics cookies is your consent. For server logs it is legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.

8. Your rights under the CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not collect the categories of personal information that would require a disclosure report, because resume content is never transmitted to us. You retain the right to know, to delete and to non-discrimination, and you can exercise the first two through the editor itself or by contacting us.

Advertising cookies may still constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. Selecting Reject non-essential in the cookie banner, or Cookie settings in the footer, is how you opt out.

9. Data retention

We retain nothing you enter, because we never receive it. Your local draft persists on your device until you delete it. Your consent choice is stored for up to 13 months. Hosting access logs are retained by our provider on their standard schedule, typically a few weeks.

10. International transfers

The site is served from a global content delivery network, so static files may be delivered from a server near you. Google, as our advertising and analytics provider, may process data outside your country under its own safeguards, described in its privacy policy.

11. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because no personal information is transmitted to us at all, the practical risk is low. If you believe a child has provided information through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Third-party services we load

• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — typefaces.
• Google AdSense (pagead2.googlesyndication.com) — advertising, after consent.
• Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com) — analytics, after consent.
• cdnjs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com) — the PDF export libraries, loaded in the editor only.

Each of these receives your IP address as a technical necessity of delivering a file to your browser.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
